Carolyn Stroud
Founder & CEO
Ms. Stroud, a clinical research veteran with 25 years of pharmaceutical and CRO experience, is a proven leader in clinical team development, operations management, and corporate leadership. She blends her business practicality with clinical precision to deliver win-win outcomes for Vigor and its Clients. As a result of Ms. Stroud sharing her valued clinical resourcing experience with Vigor’s customers, she has forged long-term business partnerships and has created a successful business strategy for organizational growth. In addition, Ms. Stroud has developed an impressive network of clinical research sites throughout the United States, who deliver exceptional data quality. Ms. Stroud’s vision for leading Vigor as a premier training and clinical resource partnering organization is her North Star.

Hien N. Nguyen, M.D.
Medical Consultant
Dr. Nguyen earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. She is a strong advocate for the underserved communities in Eastern North Carolina. Dr. Nguyen utilizes her regional knowledge, medical expertise, and passion for improving community health to transform lives. Having been trained in forensic pathology, Dr. Nguyen leads efforts to disseminate emerging clinical research and scientific data within the medical community to address the latest healthcare trends. As an established healthcare public servant, she is a subject matter expert in community health related to pathology, oncology, and hematology.

Michael Newby
MBA, Business Development
Michael Newby is an innovative, results-oriented business professional with over ten years of pharmaceutical & bio-pharmaceutical services experience, specializing in business development and sales analytics. Mr. Newby gained valuable sales experience in the Pharmaceutical and CRO industries, having worked at Quintiles, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, and Theorem Clinical Research. In a leadership capacity, Michael served as Director, Business Development for the east coast and mid-west regions for Integrium Clinical Research. Mr. Newby graduated from North Carolina Central University with a B.S. in Business Administration. In addition, he successfully completed his MS Degree in Business Administration at American InterContinental University. Mr. Newby is also an active USA football official of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).

Amy Thomas
Amy Thomas, CPA possesses ten years of financial management experience. She has been employed at Romeo, Wiggins & Company for the past seven years. Ms. Thomas provides professional services in accounting, complex financial compilations, and 401k audits. In addition, Ms. Thomas leads the firm’s tax practice for individuals, business partnerships, and S-corps. Previously for a securities firm, she provided client services to wealth and institutional clients. A graduate of East Carolina University, Ms. Thomas earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree. She is a Certified Public Accountant with the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners.

Susan C. Ray, M.Ed.
Susan Ray is results-oriented learning and development professional with over twenty-five years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. As a passionate trainer, she possesses highly efficient, problem-solving skills which she uses to design, develop, and deliver training programs for clinical research and other staff. During her career, Ms. Ray has provided safety, regulatory, technical, and business skills training to R&D staff globally. Susan has held positions in training, R&D policy, genetics, clinical research, and data management. Ms. Ray established and led multifunctional, global project teams.

Danita Thompson
Ms. Thompson is a Clinical Research Professional with over 20 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, having monitored and managed Phase I-IV trials. She is an avid servant- leader of professional growth and development programs, and she is a strong advocate of clinical oncology research. Ms. Thompson gained extensive experience as a CRA Manager with Schering-Plough. Previously, she managed projects and monitored at Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, and Precision Oncology. Ms. Thompson has led global project teams and possesses multi-therapeutic experience that includes anti-infective, infectious diseases, cardiovascular, and oncology. Ms. Thompson is highly skilled in change-management processes related to the CRA training programs, corrective action plans, and departmental SOPs.

Joan Thompson, RN, BSN, MAEd
Nurse Planner
Is a Health Science Educator and Nurse Planner. During her career growth, Ms. Thompson has collaborated with business and industry representatives to design and develop course content for state-wide curriculum and assessment items for the nursing profession. She has planned and implemented professional development activities for teachers, coached new teachers through the licensure process and worked directly with the North Carolina Nursing Association (NCNA) to provide approved credit hours for professional development activities that meet continuing competency requirements for RN license renewal. In 2013 and 2015, Ms. Thompson served as NC HOSA State Advisor to plan and facilitate district, state and national activities for North Carolina students and maintained honest and open communications with all stakeholders on a regular basis and she has taught throughout her career, Health Occupational Education courses and has served as a first responder. Ms. Thompson and her family resides in Garner, NC
